Dear Citizens of SW Carmel,

Now that SW Carmel's tax dollars have increased Carmel's budget by 20%, I will continue to advocate for fiscally sound use of your tax dollars & completion of the Settlement Agreement for Annexation of SW Clay. This administration has agreed that they are in breach of three areas of the agreement, and we are currently working on a judgment, after 10 years of stalling, to complete the process with deadlines that are enforceable. This administration MUST honor their promises to new area residents, especially when they are contracts which were authorized by the Indiana Supreme Court.

As a licensed architect, I understand land use issues on a professional level, and will continue to advocate for maintaining the current character of SW Clay and protect existing neighborhoods throughout Carmel. For example, we have created conservation corridors to protect the character of major roads in SW and many tree-lined streets throughout the city.

I will continue to protect existing residents from improper proposals of high density or commercial developments next to single family neighborhoods when implementing zoning ordinances. Carmel should only allowing proper infill that does NOT affect property values of existing neighborhoods, while protecting property rights of all Carmel citizens. This, I have done consistently during my tenure on the Council, exemplified by the fact that I voted against my opponent's father-in-law's project because of the single family neighborhood that would be affected by this development.

I will continue to advocate for transparent government & open municipal indebtedness disclosure. Though more is needed, after the 2012 Carmel Redevelopment Commission (CRC) bail out, the CRC was forced to accept Council approval of all indebtedness, and our Clerk Treasurer is now the fiscal officer for the CRC.

My husband, Ron, and I both are small business owners here, and have lived in Carmel since the 1980s when Ron began a 25-year career at Eli Lilly & Co. We have a daughter, Christine (18), who is the light of our lives.

As with many who move to Carmel, we moved here because of the people, the lifestyle, & the resale value of Carmel homes. How we keep Carmel attractive to new residents & businesses is paramount to our future, and shall be a key factor in how I continue to represent SW Carmel as your district councilor.
